‘He Deserves A Chance!’ ‘It’s The Strongest Position They’ve Got’ Fans Discuss Whether Rangers Talisman Merits England Call Up

Rangers captain James Tavernier has been in excellent form for the Light Blues this season. The 28-year-old has scored 12 goals and laid on nine assists in all competitions which are quite remarkable stats for a right-back.

Supporters on Twitter have been debating whether the defender deserves to be in the England squad. While some believe he warrants a call-up, others are not so sure, pointing out the strength in depth the Three Lions possess in that position:

England are certainly not short of right-backs, with the likes of Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold, Manchester City’s Kyle Walker, Chelsea’s Reece James, Atletico Madrid’s Kieran Trippier and Manchester United’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka all competing for a place in the squad.

With that level of competition, Tavernier would have his work cut out, but most Gers fans won’t mind him missing out anyway, as it means he will be well-rested and fully focused on club football after the international break.
