Hagi Connection Could Give Rangers Edge Over Celtic In Race For Romanian Star

Rangers and Celtic are both interested in signing Brighton forward Florin Andone, according to reports in the Romanian media.

The 27-year-old is currently on loan at Galatasaray but the Turkish club are not expected to keep the striker. With Brighton said to be interested in signing another forward, as well, his future at the Seagulls looks very uncertain.

With that being the case, Andone is likely to be open to a move north of the border and the Gers may well have the edge over their Old Firm rivals.

It is thought fellow countryman Ianis Hagi could have a hand in persuading his international teammate into making the switch to Ibrox.

However, there are a lot of things that would need to happen for Andone’s move to the Light Blues to become a reality.

For a start, Hagi would need to stay at Rangers beyond the end of his loan spell, and that means the club would have to spend £4.5m on the midfielder.

If he then persuaded Andone into joining as well, that would be another substantial outlay for the Scottish club and, in the current financial climate, that does seem unlikely.
