Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has confirmed that midfielder Glenn Middleton is closing in on a loan move to Eredivisie side NAC Breda. Speaking after the Gers’ 0-0 draw against Progres Niederkorn last night, he revealed:
“Glenn Middleton is very close to going on loan in Holland. Fair play to him going for such a challenge. That will be good for his development, playing for a team challenging in front of passionate fans.”
Fans are backing Middleton to excel for the Dutch club. The 19-year-old is not part of the club’s first-team plans this season, and they believe the game time he will get in the Netherlands could prove invaluable:
Great move for him and good to see rangers exploring Europe for opportunities for the youngsters.

Middleton made 28 appearances in all competitions for Rangers last season. His two best performances were in the 7-1 win over Motherwell last November, and the 4-0 win over Ayr United in the League Cup.
However, the arrival of Jordan Jones and the return to fitness of Jamie Murphy means he won’t have many opportunities to shine on the left flank this campaign.
Supporters will be hoping Middleton returns to Ibrox next summer after a standout season out on loan ready to take his chance in the first team.
