‘Got A Real Player On Their Hands’ Ferguson Excited By Impact Summer Signing Could Make At Rangers

Ex-Rangers midfielder Barry Ferguson is excited by the potential of winger Sheyi Ojo following his debut for the club.

The 22-year-old scored in the 4-0 win over St Joseph’s in the Europa League qualifier last week. Speaking about Ojo’s performance, Ferguson believes the Liverpool loanee could be a big hit at Ibrox:

“It looks like my old club have got a real player on their hands. It’s not about the standard of the team he was up against, it’s about the tools he’s got in his locker and from this first look it seems as if he might have the lot.”

Ojo certainly started impressively in his first competitive match for Rangers, but manager Steven Gerrard has been at pains to say that the midfielder must stay consistent.

The wide man has been on five different loan spells during his career so far, but Liverpool appear to believe that there is potential there by giving him a new contract before sending him away once again.

Gerrard could well be the manager to get him playing at his best level for the whole season. If that turns out to be the case, the Gers may well have a real gem on their hands, as Ferguson says.
