Goldson Makes Frank Admission About Old Firm Derby Mistake

Rangers defender Connor Goldson has said he was left hurting after his mistake in the Old Firm derby last month. The centre-back gave the ball away that led to Odsonne Edouard’s opening goal in the 2-0 defeat.

The 26-year-old has admitted he was left frustrated following the game and was determined to put it behind him with better performances in subsequent matches:

“It hurt. It hurt me as an individual and us as a team. For a few days after I was around my family. I knew I made a mistake and it’s not what you want to do in a big game. I held my hands up to the team at the time.”

“As a footballer, I don’t think you are ever going to be perfect. You move on, you try and get to the next game and do as well as you can.”

Goldson has played every minute for Rangers in the league this season, with manager Steven Gerrard also having selected him to start in every Europa League fixture.

The only match that the Englishman hasn’t featured in was the 3-0 win over East Fife in the fourth round of the League Cup back in August.

Goldson will be looking to repay Gerrard’s faith in him by putting in a good performance against Young Boys this evening. The Gers could make it two wins from two in their Europe League group with victory in Switzerland.
