“Go And Cash In” Ferguson Warns Rangers They May Have To Sell 10M Rated Midfielder Amid Arsenal Links

Ex-Rangers captain Barry Ferguson has raised the prospect of his former club selling Glen Kamara this summer.

The Light Blues have been linked with Cologne’s Salih Oczan in recent days, and Ferguson believes that, as Kamara has not signed a new contract, it may suggest that the German midfielder is being lined up as a replacement:

“That (story about Salih Ozcan) could be a sign that Glen Kamara might not be committing to Rangers, hence the fact that this guy has been mentioned with a move. I don’t know too much about him. He’s playing at a decent club, Cologne. It looks like Kamara won’t be extending his contract.”

“And if not you need to go and cash in, and bring in another midfielder. Kamara will be going into the final 12 months of his contract (next summer) and has already been offered a new contract. You don’t want players going into the final 12 months.”

If Kamara does not put pen to paper on a new deal, the Gers will still be in a strong position to get a decent fee for the Finnish international. There have been claims in recent months that the Scottish champions would want at least £10m and that is a justifiable asking price, considering his performances.

Arsenal have scouted Kamara in recent months, so they would be a strong candidate, while clubs such as Watford, Leeds, Southampton, Burnley and Brighton are also believed to be interested in the player. Rangers fans will, though, be hoping he agrees to extend his contract at Ibrox.
