Gerrards Reveals Key Rangers Star Is Major Doubt For Kilmarnock Clash

Rangers left-back Borna Barisic is in a race to be fit for tomorrow’s game against Kilmarnock, manager Steven Gerrard has revealed.

The Croatian picked up a knock in the 4-1 win over Hamilton Academical at the weekend, being replaced by Andy Halliday on 69 minutes in the Scottish Cup tie. Gerrard has said that there is a big possibility that the 27-year-old will have to sit out the game at Rugby Park:

“Borna has an outside chance. He won’t train today and we’re going to try and give it as long as we possibly can. He’ll probably have a late fitness test so, at the moment, the best-case scenario is that he’s 50/50 just now.”

There was some good news on the injury front for the Bears, though, with midfielder Ryan Jack fit and available once again. The 27-year-old has missed the last four games with a calf problem that he sustained in the 2-1 defeat to Hearts last month.

It will be interesting to see who makes way for Jack if Gerrard does opt to start the midfielder against Kilmarnock with Glen Kamara, Ianis Hagi and Scott Arfield having started as the midfield triumvirate against the Accies on Saturday.
