Gerrard Reveals 27 Year Old Defender Could Miss Rangers’ Clash Against Livingston

Rangers left-back Borna Barisic is a doubt for tomorrow’s game against Livingston, manager Steven Gerrard has confirmed.

The Croatian did start the 2-0 win over Standard Liege in the Europa League on Thursday night but he had to be substituted two minutes before half time due to a knock. Gerrard says he is unsure whether he’ll be available for the match at Ibrox:

“We have a few kicks, some bumps but we are not too concerned. The only one is Barisic who is a doubt, for now, it doesn’t look to be a big problem but we will do a scan to double-check.”

Barisic’s replacement Calvin Bassey has shown he is a more than capable backup for the left-back, and Gerrard did praise the 20-year-old’s performance after coming on during the week.

If there are any doubts regarding Barisic, it may be wise to leave him out. The 27-year-old has already picked up his fair share of knocks this season, and the Light Blues don’t need to risk him, especially with Bassey in such good form.

Considering they only paid around £300,000 for Bassey, when he left Leicester at the end of his contract in the summer, they have certainly made a smart investment considering the talent he possesses.
