Gerrard ‘Keen’ To Revive Deal For 28 Year Old Midfielder After Failing To Land Him In The Summer

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard is “keen” on signing Norwich midfielder Kenny McLean in the January transfer window, according to the Scottish Sun.

The newspaper claims that the Gers tried to sign the 28-year-old in the summer, only to have their approach knocked back by the Canaries who still deemed him an important first-team player.

However, since their relegation to the English Championship, McLean has only made four starts in 11 league games for Norwich, and the Gers are hopeful of reviving a move for the Scottish international.

The finances of the deal may prove complicated. The Light Blues would likely prefer an initial loan with an option to buy in the summer, or Director of Football Ross Wilson could try to negotiate and pay a fee in instalments to spread out the cost of the transfer over a number of years.

McLean is believed to be interested in a return North of the border. He moved to Carrow Road from Aberdeen in 2018.
