Gerrard Gives Strong Hint That “Absolutely Outstanding” Gers Ace Will Start Against Braga

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has given a strong indication that on-loan striker Florian Kamberi is a serious contender for a starting spot against Braga tomorrow night.

The Albanian has yet to start for the Bears since arriving on loan from Hibernian in the January transfer window but his performance in the 2-2 draw against St Johnstone at the weekend has given Gerrard pause for thought:

“I wanted to start Flo on Sunday, but obviously the risk of him playing a full game and not being fresh on Wednesday was one that I was juggling with When we went 1-0 down, I needed to twist and I did that. I thought Flo was absolutely outstanding. On that performance, he plays, for sure. You can’t ignore that. It was some impact. Flo was man of the match and everyone should have been talking about him.”

Kamberi came on for the second half at McDiarmid Park, scoring the equaliser before setting up Joe Aribo to put the Gers 2-1 up on 71 minutes.

Gerrard suggests that the performance on Sunday may have not been needed for the 24-year-old to get his first start for his new club versus Braga, but it certainly wouldn’t have harmed his chances.

It will be interesting to see, though, who Kamberi replaces in the starting eleven. Alfredo Morelos is almost certain to be picked so could the Rangers loanee be selected out wide?
