Gerrard Gets Backing From Former Rangers Coach Following Shock Reports About His Next Manager Role

Former Rangers Women’s manager Gregory Vignal has backed Steven Gerrard to be a success if he is appointed Paris Saint-Germain manager.

Surprise claims were made last week that Gerrard was under consideration to replace Christophe Galtier at the end of the season, and Vignal believes his former Liverpool teammate would be up for the challenge:

“I’m pretty sure that Steven is ready to crack on again. I think he is strong enough mentally to start a new project. Why not Paris Saint-Germain? They have been talking about him. I am sure he can get a good job soon whether that is in the Premier League or abroad.”

After leaving the Gers to take over at Aston Villa last campaign, Gerrard lasted less than a year in the job and there have been some question marks about where his next managerial appointment would be.

Some have speculated that the 42-year-old may have to drop down into the English Championship for his next role and these reports about PSG have come out of the blue.

The Ligue One giants have appointed the likes of (ex-Chelsea coach) Thomas Tuchel and (former Spurs boss) Mauricio Pochettino in recent years with varying degrees of success so it remains to be seen if they see Gerrard as a genuine candidate.
