Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has revealed that Ryan Kent won’t return to action before the next international break.

The 24-year-old injured his hamstring in the 2-0 home defeat to Lyon earlier this month and Gerrard has now confirmed he won’t be back in action until mid to late October:

“It will depend on the final stages of the rehab when he gets up to sprinting and going flat-out, kicking a ball. But we’ve been told it will be somewhere between three to four weeks so I think the earliest you’ll see him is after international duty.”

Kent has already missed the games against Motherwell, Livingston and Dundee, and he will definitely be sidelined for the trip to face Sparta Prague in the Europa League on Thursday. The Englishman is also expected to be unavailable for the league clash versus Hibernian next weekend.

While the winger had made a rather disappointing start to the season, there is no doubt that Gerrard would much rather have him fit and available, to give the Light Blues another creative outlet.

It will be hoped that, when Kent does return next month, he is firing on all cylinders, ready to help Rangers maintain their push for a second consecutive Scottish Premiership title.
