Gerrard Confirms New Deal Is Planned For Rangers Star As They Look To Ward Of Interest From EPL

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has revealed that the Scottish club are looking to tie down midfielder Glen Kamara to a new contract after the transfer window shuts.

The Finnish international has been watched by Arsenal, while the likes of Anderlecht, West Ham, Sheffield United, Brighton and Leeds have all reportedly shown an interest in the player. With his current deal expiring in 2023, Gerrard said the Gers are planning to extend his stay at Ibrox and end speculation about his future:

“We are going to offer Glen a new contract when the time is right. The plan was always to get this window out of the way before we spoke about that. Glen is aware of that. We love Glen here. He is a fantastic player. We believe he is capable of playing for most teams out there at any level. He is that talented.”

Kamara was signed for just £50,000 from Dundee eighteen months ago but the 24-year-old is a regular starter for the Light Blues, having been named in the starting line up on nine occasions this campaign.

Despite reports that the club are looking to sign another central midfielder before deadline day, it appears that Kamara remains firmly at the centre of Gerrard’s plans, and his importance will certainly be reaffirmed if he signs a contract extension.
