Gerrard Confirms Latest Rangers Signing Could Miss Three Crucial Fixtures

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has confirmed new signing Bongani Zungu is currently in quarantine for the next ten days.

The South African international joined from Amiens on loan earlier this month but despite having now arrived in Scotland, Gerrard says it will be a while before we see the player in action for the Light Blues:

“Bongani Zungu is currently in quarantine so we sadly won’t see him for another 10 days or so. We have sorted him with gym equipment so he can train from home.”

If Gerrard has been exact with the number of days, it suggests Zungu will only be allowed to train with his new teammates on October 26th, which means he won’t be available for three important games.

He won’t be in the squad for the trip to Celtic Park tomorrow, while he will also be missing for the first Europa League group stage game against Standard Liege next Thursday night. The Gers then play again the following Sunday versus Livingston before Zungu can be brought into the fold.

The 28-year-old could, however, make his debut when the Scottish club host Polish side Lech Poznan at Ibrox in the Europa League later this month.
