Gerrard Backed To Use His Connections To Snap Up Wales Star With 7 Goals And 13 Assists This Season

Former Rangers defender Michael Ball believes manager Steven Gerrard could well persuade Liverpool winger Harry Wilson into moving to Ibrox this summer.

The Wales international has been on loan at Cardiff in the English Championship this season, racking up seven goals and 13 assists, and Ball has backed Gerrard to sign the 24-year-old on a permanent basis:

“Steven’s got that connection with him. He knows of him, so that personal relationship could be a bonus. The money, we’re not too sure what they have to spend, so it all depends if any players move out as well at Rangers. If [Alfredo] Morelos moves on, the big money that they’ll get would give Rangers the opportunity to bring Harry and maybe a few others in.”

Wilson has been linked with the Light Blues in the past, and Gerrard could certainly do with a right-winger to complement Ryan Kent on the opposite flank.

However, as Balls says, a lot would depend on the club’s transfer budget. Liverpool are themselves keen on raising funds so Wilson may not be as expensive as he would have been in previous years.

There have been reports that the Welshman has a £20m asking price, but in the current financial climate, that seems very steep. Were here to become available for a figure closer to what Kent was signed for, it may be an option worth considering.
