‘From What I Know…’ Journalist Makes Claim About 4M Rated Rangers Star’s Potential Departure

Rangers fullback Borna Barisic is not unsettled at Ibrox and will not press for a move away from the club, according to Fraser Fletcher.

The journalist claims that, while he is aware that Turkish champions Trabzonspor are interested in the Croatian international, they haven’t followed up with a formal offer:

“From what I know about Borna Barisic, there’s a lot of chat about him and how he’s miserable and unhappy and all that stuff. That’s not true I don’t believe. That’s my opinion but I just don’t believe that to be true, it’s not what I’ve heard at all. Trabzonspor are really keen on him. They really like Barisic, and that’s not changed. That’s not changed. They do really like Borna Barisic but as things stand right now, nothing concrete and he’s a Rangers player.”

Barisic was the subject of a £2m bid from Watford during the January transfer window but the Gers deemed it to be well below their valuation of the player.

Earlier in the summer, it was believed that the Scottish club were considering letting the 29-year-old leave if a team were prepared to offer £4m, but no such deal was proposed.

In any event, the departure of Calvin Bassey to Ajax will mean that manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst will be short of options at left-back so there is now a greater likelihood that the Light Blues will look to keep hold of Barisic.
