Five Things To Know About Terem Moffi: The Striker Who Is Reportedly On Rangers’ Radar

The Ibrox Stadium.

Rangers have made contact with the agent of KV Kortrijk striker Terem Moffi, according to reports in the forward’s homeland.

The Nigerian has been in impressive form in the Belgian Pro League before the season was curtailed, and he is said to be on the radar of a number of clubs.

Gers boss Steven Gerrard is looking to strengthen up front ahead of next campaign, with Alfredo Morelos and Jermain Defoe currently his only options.

So would Moffi be a good signing? Press the next page as we go through five facts about the 21-year-old.

Moffi started his professional career in Lithuania

Not much is known about the youth career of the Nigerian striker, but his first two professional clubs were in Lithuania, of all places.

Moffi had a brief spell at FK Kauno Zalgiris in 2016/17 season before being picked up FK Riteriai for the start of the 2018/19 campaign. He bagged 14 goals in 24 league appearances, catching the attention of scouts across Europe.

His good form led to a switch to Belgium earlier this year

Although he could have moved to a number of different teams, Moffi signed for Belgian top division side KV Kortrijk in the January 2020 transfer window for £150,000.

The Nigerian got off to a very good start, scoring four goals in seven league appearances prior to the season ending prematurely due to the global health crisis.

Moffi has ambition and he sees his move to Belgium as a stepping stone

Before his switch to Kortrijk, the 21-year-old said he did have options to switch to other countries, but he felt that moving to the Pro League would offer him the best chance of gaining the attention of bigger clubs:

“I could have gone to Sweden, Norway or Israel. But I chose Belgium because this way I can get to the big leagues more quickly.”

He has pace to burn

Moffi’s main characteristic as a striker is his speed and, combined with his strength, he is a real handful for opposition defences.

His attributes would certainly provide Gerrard with a different option to the likes of Morelos and Defoe.

Moffi has several clubs pursuing him

As well as Rangers, it is believed that the likes of Galatasaray, Lorient and Rennes are all keeping tabs on the striker’s situation. The Bears’ chance of signing him, though, have taken the dent, with the player having recently stated he favours a move to two countries, in particular:

“Where would I like to go? France or Spain, we’ll see…”
