Ferguson Predicts Rangers’ Starting Line Up To Face Celtic In The Old Firm Derby

Former Rangers captain Barry Ferguson expects manager Steven Gerrard to recall Alfredo Morelos after he left the Colombian out of the starting line up against Kilmarnock on Boxing Day.

The 23-year-old came on in the second half to score a 65th-minute winner and Ferguson believes he will be reinstated to the eleven for the Old Firm clash tomorrow afternoon:

“I only expect one change from the side that started against Kilmarnock on Boxing Day and it’s a no-brainer. Alfredo Morelos must come in for Jermain Defoe and we all saw what he did against Killie.”

Ferguson is not so sure that Steven Davis will be handed his first start since the start of the month despite coming on as a substitute in the 1-0 win over Kilmarnock.

The 34-year-old has been suffering from a foot injury, and despite the midfielder offering a great deal of experience, Ferguson believes the Northern Irishman must be 100% fit to start in the derby:

“The only other question is whether Steven Davis comes back but he’s missed three weeks of football and I know as a player that’s a big ask. Nobody needs to tell me what Davo brings to the team but you need to look at the football he’s missed.”

Whoever Gerrard picks to start, fans will be confident that they can put in a performance at Celtic Park. The Gers were unlucky to lose in their last encounter in the Betfred Cup final, and they will be keen on seeking revenge this time around.
