Rangers fans were delighted as their team ran riot over Hibernian on Wednesday evening – despite a bright start from the hosts, the Gers put them to the sword regardless.
Several of Rangers’ players received praise, especially Ryan Jack, Fashion Sakala and Todd Cantwell. It was a good performance from the Light Blues – however, certain fans had an interesting theory as to why their team played so well.
A few critics mused that Rangers’ great performance was largely owed to the absence of major players such as Alfredo Morelos and former Sheffield United midfielder John Lundstram. Indeed, neither of them started, both being used as late substitutes – and the Gers’ great display cannot be denied.
Fantastic performance. Cantwell man of the match for me. Hard choice though.

Much better without Morelos and Lundstrum in the team.

What we seen last night from the trio in the middle for rangers including ryan kent was 3 fundamental traits I have been begging to see
Energy , mobility , enthusiasm
It’s normally
Slow , passive , flat ( lundstrum , Morelos , Kamara )— chris graham (@chrisblue1982) March 9, 2023
Despite falling behind in the sixth minute due to an own goal from Connor Goldson, the Gers levelled the scores six minutes later with a penalty from former Newcastle academy graduate James Tavernier.
From then on, Rangers were in full control of the game. Antonio Colak scored a brace, alongside a strike from Fashion Sakala – in the end, the scored finished at 4-1.
It was a positive result for Rangers – do you think that the result came due to Morelos and Lundstram being out of the matchday squad?
Despite the victory, the Gers are still well behind bitter rivals Celtic. They will need Celtic to drop points if they’re to catch up to them – but nothing is impossible in the Scottish Premiership.
