Ex-WWE And Wrestling Star Reveals Rangers Links On Twitter

Things can often get rough at the Ibrox Stadium. It’s been no stranger to meaty tackles and bone-crunching collisions – just like the world of WWE (well, the second part anyway)! But did you know that a former wrestling superstar has familial ties to both the area and the club?

Lex Luger, former Royal Rumble winner, revealed in a tweet that his grandparents on his mother’s side were ‘born and raised in Coatbridge’. In the same tweet, Luger proclaimed himself to be a ‘huge Rangers fan’. Luger is also thought to be a fan of Manchester United, as he tweeted in support of the Red Devils prior to their game with Arsenal.

Luger isn’t the only wrestling star who supports the Gers. Drew McIntyre, who has held the WWE Championship on two occasions, is also a huge Rangers fan. Another example is Grado, who is known for his time in Insane Championship Wrestling, Total Nonstop Action and World of Sport Wrestling.

Luger himself never held the WWE Championship. Perhaps his crowning moment in wrestling was when he defeated Yokozuna by count-out at Summerslam 1993.

In the present day, Luger reportedly relies on a wheelchair for mobility. However, he is still signed to WWE as a consultant for their wellness policy.
