Bournemouth midfielder Jack Wilshere has confirmed that he did not hold any discussions with Steven Gerrard about moving to Rangers before sealing his free transfer move to the Cherries.
The 28-year-old signed a six-month deal with the English Championship side earlier this week and when asked by a fan on Twitter about whether a switch to Ibrox was ever discussed, the midfielder replied:

It does seem as though Rangers were never serious about signing Wilshere and it isn’t surprising considering the number of central midfielders Gerrard currently has at his disposal.
In addition to the likes of Glen Kamara, Ryan Jack and Steven Davis, Bongani Zungu was brought in on loan back in October, while Joe Aribo and Scott Arfield can also play in deeper roles.
Wilshere’s ability means he could have added something to the squad but the Light Blues were likely put off by his poor injury record and salary demands.
