EPL Club Weighing Up £20m January Swoop For Rangers Marksman

Aston Villa have added Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos to their list of transfer targets for the January transfer window, according to the Football Insider.

The Villans have struggled for goals in the first couple of months of the campaign despite having paid £22m to secure the services of Brazilian forward Wesley Moraes from Club Brugge in the summer.

Manager Dean Smith has reportedly been given more resources to strengthen the forward line when the window reopens, and the Premier League side are said to be drawing up a shortlist of £20m+ strikers.

Where Morelos features in their priorities, it remains to be seen. The 23-year-old has scored 13 in 17 appearances already this campaign, and his form has been rewarded with a recall to the Colombian national side.

Manager Carlos Queiroz has named him in the squad for the friendlies against Chile and Algeria next week. With Radamel Falcao having been omitted, Morelos says it gives him a big chance to make an impact at international level:

“With Falcao not being in the squad on this occasion, of course, I view this as a great opportunity for me. It’s a chance to get more experience with my national team and I want to do my absolute best.”
