“Driven By The Player’s Representatives…” Reliable Journalist Offers New Update On Gers’ Move For Ex Chelsea Star

Ross Barkley’s agent is the one offering the player’s services to Rangers, according to Football.Scotland Deputy Editor Mark Hendry.

The England international has recently had his contract terminated at Chelsea and he has been linked with a free transfer move to both Old Firm clubs:

Hendry claims that rumours about a switch to Ibrox are being “driven by the player’s representatives” and it will be up to the Gers’ Director of Football Ross Wilson to decide whether a formal approach for Barkley is made.

While there have been concerns over the 28-year-old’s wage demands, Hendry suggests that the player has accepted that he will need to take a sizeable cut no matter who he decides to sign for:

That could make Rangers a viable destination, but there are still question marks over whether Barkley is the type of midfielder that manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst is looking for. Standard Liege’s Nicolas Raskin has been considered as a target but he plays in much deeper midfield positions than Barkley, indicating the club may not prioritise a move for the ex-Everton player.
