Defender Rejects Chelsea Offer As He Closes In On Rangers Switch

Rangers target Dujon Sterling has turned down a contract extension from Chelsea and is poised to make the switch to Ibrox on a free transfer, according to reports in Scotland.

Stoke City, where the defender has been on loan this season, have also tried to persuade him into joining them this summer, but the player has his heart set on moving to Glasgow.

It was reported last week that Sterling was set to complete his transfer to the Gers but it wasn’t known that Chelsea were trying to keep him at Stamford Bridge.

Securing the 23-year-old’s signature will be a big coup for manager Michael Beale, who is pressing ahead with his plans to bring in new signings before pre-season.

Who else is Beale planning to recruit?

Rangers are believed to be considering a bid for Arsenal centre-back Auston Trusty, while the Scottish side have also been linked with Hellas Verona goalkeeper Ivor Pandur, who has been playing for Fortuna Sittard in the Netherlands on loan this campaign.
