Eintracht Frankfurt are lining up a bid for Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos, according to reports in Scotland.
The German club are said to have watched the forward on Thursday night as the 23-year-old scored a hat-trick in the Europa League qualifier against St Joseph’s. It is believed they could follow up their interest in the player with a bid before the end of the summer transfer window.
Frankfurt have sold two forwards for over £100m this summer so they wouldn’t have any trouble meeting Morelos’s asking price.
The Gers are said to value the Colombian international at around the £20m mark, and the player has also been attracting other clubs, including West Ham and Crystal Palace.
Morelos remains a key player for Steven Gerrard and after the midweek rout versus St Joseph’s, the Rangers manager said he was expecting to have him and Jermain Defoe vying for a place in the starting eleven this season:
“One is young at 23 and one is 36, so they are at different ends of their career. But one thing’s for sure – they have both got an awful lot to offer this team and squad over the next 12 months. The most important thing for me is they both stay fit, healthy and available for selection.”
