Buffel Predicts Who Will Come Out On Top Between Rangers And Feyenoord

Ex-Rangers and Feyenoord midfielder Thomas Buffel is backing the Light Blues to win their Europa League clash against the Dutch side on Thursday night.

The former Gers star moved from Feyenoord for £2.3m in 2005 and spent three years with the Scottish club before the Belgian moved back to his homeland. Asked about the game between two of his former clubs, Buffel said he couldn’t look past Rangers for the win.

He thinks European nights at Ibrox are always big occasions and he doesn’t believe Feyenoord will be up to the task :

“Feyenoord are a good team at home, but I’m not so sure away from home It’s a young team, with some prospects, but we don’t really know how good they can be.”

“So I think Rangers will be favourites. They look a stronger team and have impressed me. The European nights at Ibrox are so special, and hopefully, this will be another one.”

Feyenoord only narrowly beat ADO Den Haag 3-2 in the Eredivisie at the weekend. Jaap Stam’s side were three goals up in the first half, but two own goals in the second 45 minutes made it a nervous finish.

The Dutch club have conceded six goals in their first five league games this season and Rangers will be hoping to exploit their defensive weaknesses.
