Rangers midfielder Ianis Hagi will not be leaving for Lazio at the end of the season, according to reports in Scotland.
There had been rumours emanating from Italy that the Serie A side were looking to hijack the Gers’ move for the Romanian international in the summer.
Hagi is currently on loan from Racing Genk but the Light Blues can make the deal permanent for £4m in June. Most fans on Twitter are delighted that he will be staying:
Best news I’ve heard in weeks.

Absolute bargain for a player of his ability and potential

While a few supporters don’t think he has done enough to warrant the transfer fee:
Until he starts doing it in tough away games at tight venues then do we really need him? Would help if gaffer played him as a 10 though n not out wide. Would be good to see him behind two stikers ?

He hasn’t been consistent or good enough to justify a transfer fee anyway. We let ourselves get played into paying over the odds for Kent, i’d rather not see us do it again.

I think he’s a great player but isn’t worth £5 million

It would have been nice to see how Hagi would have finished the season before having to make a firm decision on his future.
The 21-year-old has certainly shown flashes of brilliance, such as the game against Braga, but it is a sizeable outlay for the club and they will have to think long and hard before triggering their purchase option.
