Rangers manager Steven Gerrard singled out Ryan Jack for praise after his performance in the 6-1 thrashing of Hibernian yesterday. The 27-year-old was instrumental in the middle of the park, pulling the strings to help the Gers to a comfortable home win.
With Jermain Defoe getting a hat-trick and Alfredo Morelos scoring twice, the midfielder’s performance was somewhat overshadowed by his teammates, but Gerrard emphasised Jack’s importance following the game:
“He’s one of the first names that comes to my mind when I’m picking teams because I trust him in any role. He makes the right decisions on the pitch, that’s why he is so important to us. He was selected for every big game last season and that will continue to happen if he plays at that level.”
Supporters on Twitter were echoing Gerrard’s sentiments, and believe Jack is getting better and better:
Best game in a Rangers shirt.
He bossed it, drove us forward and was generally everywhere

If Scotland has 6 or 7 better midfielders than Jack then UEFA should just hand them the Euro Championship now!

Astonishingly, Jack still only has two caps for Scotland despite his superb form over the last twelve months at club level. Manager Steve Clarke did not select him in the squad for the games against Cyprus and Belgium back in June.
Whether that will change for the upcoming fixtures against Russia and Belgium in the Euro 2020 qualifiers at the start of next month, we shall see.
