Beale Is Told There Is One Rangers Star He Should Sell Immediately After Being Appointed Manager

New Rangers manager Michael Beale should look to offload Alfredo Morelos as soon as possible, according to Noel Whelan.

The pundit claims that the Colombian international’s situation is untenable and, if the player isn’t willing to sign a new contract, Beale should look to replace him:

“We’ve heard whsipers about Morelos. Not just this season but for years now. I think Rangers have got to draw a line under him and look elsewhere. He’s been a great goalscorer and a massive part of their recent history. But there’s all this controversy over a new contract, and the noises coming out are not positive.”

“It’s time to get some clarity on this. If he doesn’t want to be there then you’ve got to move him on quickly. We’ve had this season after season. It must be really draining for the Rangers players and fans. It’s not healthy. The new manager has got to come with some ideas about how you replace a player like him and get it done quickly.”

Morelos’s goal record this campaign has been pretty woeful. He has managed just three goals and one assist in 19 appearances which, for a player of his quality, is extremely disappointing.

It’s clear that, with his contract set to expire at the end of May, he has let it affect his form and fitness. You feel that a sale in the January transfer window would be best for all parties.

However, Morelos’s performances mean there is a dearth of potential suitors. It’s a stark contrast to when the Gers were reportedly offered €15m (£13m) for the striker by Lille two and a half years ago.
