Battle For £35M Rated Spanish Starlet Could Have Ramifications For Rangers Playmaker’s Future

Celtic Vigo may target Rangers midfielder Ianis Hagi if they lose Gabri Veiga this summer, according to reports in the Spanish media.

The Romanian international has not featured much since returning from a serious knee injury and there has been speculation that he could leave Ibrox at the end of the season.

Hagi is thought to have been recommended to Celta by their advisor Luis Campos, and they are said to be hoping to sign the playmaker for around £3m.

That would be a small fraction of the amount the La Liga club could receive for Veiga. The Spanish Under 21 international is reportedly being pursued by Manchester City, Newcastle, Liverpool, Manchester United, Arsenal and a number of other teams.

It is believed that the 20-year-old has a release clause worth €40m (£35m) and Celta president Carlos Mourino has repeatedly stated that the player won’t be allowed to leave for below that figure.

In terms of Hagi, Rangers would likely want a lot more than £3m, considering he cost them a similar amount when he moved from Genk in 2020.
