‘Basically Renewed His Season Ticket’ ‘Best Job In The World’ Fans Comment On Rangers Keeper’s New One Year Deal

Rangers shot-stopper Andy Firth has signed a one-year contract extension keeping him at Ibrox until 2021. The 23-year-old is the club’s third-choice goalkeeper behind Allan McGregor and Wes Foderingham and he has only made one appearance for the Bears since his arrival last January.

Having been picked up from English non-league side AFC Barrow, supporters on Twitter have been sharing jokes about how lucky the keeper is to be at the Scottish club:

Firth very rarely gets an opportunity for the first team, with his one game coming against Kilmarnock last season after replacing Foderingham in goal for the final ten minutes of the 2-1 defeat.

The Englishman is unlikely to be second choice next campaign when it is expected Foderingham will move on from Rangers following the end of his contract. It is likely that another backup for McGregor will be sought, with Firth once again getting occasional selections on the bench for cup games.
