Aston Villa manager Dean Smith has not ruled out making a move for Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos in the January transfer window.
The English club have been linked with a bid for the Colombian international in recent months, and when asked about the possibility of signing the 23-year-old, Smith said that he is leaving it to his sporting director Jesus Garcia Pitarch to identify targets:
“Suso’s got all of his scouts out looking at things, but January is a long, long way at the moment and we’ve got a lot of games to play. Watch this space.”
That could be interpreted to mean that Morelos is on their list of potential January recruits, or it could simply be that Smith is not aware of who Pitarch is scouting, so he provided a cryptic response instead.
Either way, Gers fans will be hoping that the Colombian stays put to spearhead the club’s attempts to win the Premiership title. He has scored 14 goals in 19 appearances for the Light Blues this season and was recently awarded the player of the month award for his performances in September.
