‘As Far As I Know…’ Rangers Target Speaks Out On Whether He Could Seal January Move

Vitesse Arnhem centre-back Danilho Doekhi has effectively ruled out leaving the Eredivisie club during the January transfer window.

The Dutchman has just six months left on his contract but he claims he has not received any formal offers to move this month, with an exit on a free transfer next summer the likeliest outcome:

“As far as I know, no club has come knocking on Vitesse’s door yet. I’m not so much in favour of a winter transfer, but of a departure in the summer.”

Rangers are believed to be looking to strengthen their options in the centre of defence, with Doekhi and Hearts’ John Souttar having been linked, but it seems that both may only move to Ibrox if they sign pre-contract agreements.

Doekhi has also revealed that he is flattered by links to Rangers, and that admission suggests the Light Blues will have a good chance of securing his signature. However, Napoli and a number of other European clubs are believed to be pursuing the 23-year-old as well, so it is not a foregone conclusion that he’ll make the switch to the Scottish champions.
