Arsenal, Leicester And Newcastle Watch Rangers Starlet In Action As Contract Talks Enter Critical Stage

Arsenal, Leicester City and Newcastle United have joined the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City and Tottenham in the race to sign Rangers centre-back Leon King, according to the Scottish Sun.

The newspaper reports that all three Premier League clubs had scouts present as the Gers’ Under 18 side beat St Mirren 2-1 at the Hummel Training Centre on Friday.

King has already turned down one contract proposal from the Light Blues but the Scottish club are hoping a second improved offer will be enough to keep the defender at Ibrox.

He turns 16 this week, and if he decides to leave and go down South, Rangers will only be entitled to modest compensation. At the moment, it is believed that the two sides are quite far apart from coming to an agreement, and concerns over first-team opportunities is said to be a major stumbling block.

Even so, he would have a much lower chance of breaking into an EPL club’s first team anyway and fans will be hoping that he commits his future to the Bears.
