Rangers manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst has confirmed that Kemar Roofe will be sidelined for a couple of weeks after suffering yet another injury.
The 29-year-old had just returned to fitness after spending most of the season on the treatment table, but there is now a danger that he will not play again before the World Cup.
Supporters on Twitter are understandably extremely frustrated that Roofe has been ruled out of contention, with many believing that the club should look to dispense with the player’s services at the first possible opportunity:
Absolutely beyond a joke now this stuff. I know it isn’t his fault but the way we continue to sign players like him, like Souttar for example is scandalous

The first and most important ability is availability.
As good as Roofe is, it is really frustrating he is out again.

What a player Kemar Roofe is but he is no use to us injured. Unfortunately we have too many injury prone players picking up a wage and not contributing on the pitch. Roofe is under contract until 2024 and on a big wage, causing us a major dilemma as we can’t rely on him.

Roofe has missed FIFTY matches since arriving at Ibrox, which is an incredible number considering he only made the switch from Anderlecht at the start of the 2020/21 season.
A decision will have to be made on his future in the near future. The Jamaican international will have eighteen months left on his contract in January and it may be time for the club to cut their losses and allow him to leave for a minimal fee.
