Rangers defender Filip Helander is expected to return from a foot injury in February or March at the earliest, according to reports.

The Swedish international has not played since April after having to undergo surgery, and it looks as though he will be unavailable for most of the season.

With Helander’s contract expiring at the end of the season, many fans on Twitter are calling on the club to cut their losses and part ways with the center-back:

Since he joined the Gers from Bologna for £3.5m in 2019, Helander has made just 60 appearances for the Scottish club in all competitions, although he did play a key role as they won the Scottish Premiership title in 2021.

The 29-year-old has actually only lost five matches when he has played but his inability to keep himself fit has been a major issue. We shall see what decision Rangers make on his future in the coming months.
