Rangers have made an enquiry about signing Preston North End midfielder Daniel Johnson, according to reports in both the Scottish and English media.
The Light Blues have yet to make an offer for the 27-year-old but some sources have suggested that a bid could well be made soon. Supporters on Twitter have been discussing whether the Jamaican would be a good addition to the squad:
Looks a decent player only seen the footage online ?

Don’t really see why he can’t fit into the squad . If the gaffer wants him then that’s good enough for me .

Looks very mobile but a bit lightweight , hopefully strong upper body for our game

As long as the price is right! Could do with a couple new in to cover for injuries unless we promote from academy.

If Gerrard and Wilson think he will fit into our team well that’s good enough for me

He looks not bad at all. Would be a fantastic backup for Aribo and could also put him behind hagi

Yes, would be really happy 12 goals for a midfielder aint too shabby and looking at jack getting injured seems like we need a replacement for the time being ??

It is believed that Preston value Johnson quite a bit higher than the £2m that has been reported, while it was thought that the Gers may have suggested offering below that figure, in addition to paying the fee in instalments.
However, we won’t know more until the Scottish club actually make a formal approach for the player. The midfielder would certainly add goals from midfield, having scored 12 in the English Championship for North End last season. With Joe Aribo and Ryan Jack sidelined with injuries as well, a move to strengthen that area of the pitch has also taken on greater importance.
