16 Year Old Trains With Rangers Senior Squad Ahead Of Standard Liege Clash

Rangers centre-back Leon King has trained with the club’s senior squad ahead of tomorrow’s Europa League group stage match against Standard Liege, according to The Athletic‘s Jordan Campbell.

As Campbell mentions, the increased size of the matchday squad means King may well get a place on the bench when the Light Blues face off against their Belgian opponents in Liege.

King is a player with massive potential, with the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham, Manchester United and Manchester City having been linked with the 16-year-old before he signed a contract extension earlier this year.

Manager Steven Gerrard is believed to be a big fan of the defender, having included the Scotland Under 17 international in matchday squads previously, but the youngster has yet to make his first-team debut.

With the likes of Connor Goldson, Filip Helander, George Edmundson and Leon Balogun in the squad, it will be hard for King to breakthrough but the teenager clearly has talent so a senior appearance may not be too far off.
